THE YOUNG STARS
Who are the Young Stars?
You may hear Juliet from time to time talk about The Young Stars. She is the managing director of a non-profit of the same name. But the Young Stars themselves are a group of gorgeous children in Uganda that Juliet met on her honeymoon. She and Lorne (her hubby) fell so in love with these little folks that they formed the non-profit to build some schools for them.
But not just any schools. We will create a holistic healthy learning environment including clean water sources; clean latrines, gardens, vocational training, basic medical care and much needed school supplies. Children will also receive vaccines, malaria nets to sleep under, Aids education and much more. The Young Stars Project believes that poverty is not only a reality for many African children, but a cycle they will perpetuate until they develop the skills to contribute to the modern world. We also believe that education is the magic bullet.
You can see pictures of the kids, contribute funds or read more at www.youngstarsproject.org
And perhaps the most exciting part of the Young Stars Project is how it will grow when the first phase, Project Uganda, is completed. Using Project Uganda as a model, the Young Stars Project will begin to select other schools in developing countries to transform. Multi-faceted and creative fundraising kits will be distributed to American private and public schools whose children will raise money for partner-school projects that they select from the Young Stars Roster. American schools often do philanthropy, but more and more it is with a motive to build their resume towards collegiate competition. Many students have never been taught the true joy of service, but this project can help.
